The heavy rains in Metro Manila last night, September 8, stranded thousands of commuters and there were also reported cases of brownouts in some areas. Also affected by the heavy downpour was the ratings game among primetime shows, most of which showed considerable decline in their numbers.

And for the first time since its debut last April 28, Dyesebel slipped to second place as Codename: Asero zoomed to No. 1. Richard Gutierrez's action-adventure series got 33 percent against the 32.4 percent of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera's fantaserye.

ABS-CBN's new primetime series, I Love Betty La Fea, debuted last night at No. 5 with 23.9 percent; behind 24 Oras' 27 percent and Ako Si Kim Samsoon's 25 percent. Betty La Fea's fifth-place finish is the highest among Kapamilya shows.

Occupying the sixth to ninth spots are ABS-CBN shows Iisa Pa Lamang (23.1 percent), TV Patrol World (20.6 percent), Pinoy Dream Academy (19.8 percent), and Dyosa (18.9). Completing the Top 10 is GMA-7 Koreanovela My Husband's Woman.

In the daytime race, Eat Bulaga once again led all programs with 22.1 percent. Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan came in second with 20 percent while Wowowee was in third with 19.7 percent.

Occupying the fourth and fifth spots are Una Kang Naging Akin and Marimar, respectively.

Betty La Fea is the first of two new ABS-CBN shows that will premiere this week; the other one is the Koreanovela Three Dads With One Mommy, which will debut tonight, September 9.

These two new shows replaced The Singing Bee and My Girl, which both ended last Friday, September 5. The Singing Bee finished at No. 4 with 32.2 percent while My Girl ended its run at No. 6 with 28.8 percent.

Dyesebel grabbed the top spot with 41.8 percent; followed by Codename: Asero (34.7 percent) and Ako Si Kim Samsoon (34.6 percent). 24 Oras was at No. 5 with 29.9 percent.

Eat Bulaga also topped the daytime race with 22.2 percent while Marimar and Wowowee tied at second place with identical 18.6 percent ratings. Completing the Top 5 are El Cuerpo del Deseo, Daisy Siete, and Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan.

Saturday daytime viewing also belonged to Eat Bulaga, which posted a rating of 25.5 percent, with Pinoy Records a far second with 19 percent.

Wowowee and Wish Ko Lang tied for third place with 17.6 percent; followed by Takeshi's Castle with 16.1 percent and That's My Doc with 14 percent.

In the battle of Saturday showbiz talk shows, Startalk ranked better against Entertainment Live, 13.9 percent versus 8.8 percent.

Bitoy's Funniest Videos ruled the primetime race with 31.5 percent. Coming in second was Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho with 28 percent, while singing competitions Pinoy Dream Academy and Celebrity Duets, placed third and fourth, respectively.

Completing the Top 10 are Imbestigador, A Bettyful Life: The Making of I Love Betty La Fea, Maalaala Mo Kaya, Varga, XXX, and Nuts Entertainment.

Meanwhile, SOP reclaimed the No. 1 spot from ASAP '08 in last Sunday's (September 7) daytime race. SOP generated a rating of 18.9 percent against ASAP ‘08's 15.5 percent.

Showbiz Central also regained the upper hand in the battle of Sunday showbiz talk shows as it beat rival The Buzz; 14 percent vs. 10.9 percent.

Finally, Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok topped all primetime programs with 29.7 percent; followed by Mel & Joey (28.5 percent), Kap's Amazing Stories (27.9 percent), Pinoy Dream Academy (23.4 percent), and All Star K (22.4 percent).
