LOOKING forward si Richard Gutierrez sa biyahe nila ni KC Concepcion sa Greece para mag-shooting ng Star Cinema mo*vie nila na For The First Time na dinidirehe ni Bb. Joyce Bernal.

First time nilang pareho ni KC na pupunta sa nasabing island country kaya kapwa sila excited na i-explore ang Greece.

Sa Hulyo 14 ang lipad ni Richard pa-Greece at bale sampung araw daw silang magsu-shoot doon.

Hulyo 25 ay nandito na siya sa ‘Pinas, just in time para sa malaking fashion show ng Bench sa Araneta Coliseum.

Sa Hulyo 14 din ang pilot telecast ng bagong action series ni Richard sa GMA na Codename: Asero, kaya sabi sa amin ni Chard, habang nagpa-pilot ang show niya rito ay nakasakay na siya ng eroplano pa-Europa.

Bago umalis ay siguradong todo-promote muna si Richard ng seryeng pagtatambalan nila ni Heart Evangelista. Isang cyborg o half-human, half-robot ang karakter ni Chard sa Codename: Asero.

Sa Dubai, UAE kinunan ang pilot episode nito, na mala-Star Wars daw ang bonggang action scenes sa disyerto.
Siyanga pala, hindi kay Richard ang brand-new Audi R8 car na ginamit niya sa press launch niya kamakailan bilang male endorser ng Flawless.
Pinahiram lang ito sa kanya ng may-ari ng Flawless para sa kanyang grand entrance sa nasabing launch.

Feeling Robert Downey Jr. si Chard habang sakay ng magarang kotse dahil ganu’n ang sasakyan ng superhero character ni Downey na si Tony Stark sa pelikulang Iron Man.

Heart Evangelista happily reports to iGMA that she’s now well-adjusted as a Kapuso, and it was surprisingly a cinch. “It’s so easy,” she shares. “People here are so relaxed, laid back, no stress, no problems, no issues!” Read up for more reasons why Heart says she’s home at last. Busy, busy!
Barely a month after she signed her GMA contract, Heart started workshops for her upcoming primetime show Codename: Asero opposite Kapuso heartthrob Richard Gutierrez. She also became an S.O.P. regular, and was given her own segment called “Idols of the Heart.”

“Every Sunday, there’s gonna be a different artist I’ll be [performing] with, so I’m busy with that,” says Heart. “I was really nervous [the first time I was there]! The dance was really long, but it felt so good because I felt I was given importance, I felt they really wanted me. I felt like I was wanted. I was really happy about it.”

She also has a handful of stories to tell us of her Dubai trip with the Asero team, since the series taped their pilot week there.

“Oh my goodness, it’s so expensive there!” Heart exclaims. “And talagang pinagkagastahan ng GMA [yung series]. So kailangan nila abangan yun kasi lahat ang gaganda ng ginawa namin!”

What can people look forward to in Asero?

“Oh, wow—a lot of action, a lot of kilig—surprisingly, a lot of kilig! [There’ll be] drama, you’ll cry, you’ll laugh. And comedy. I’m a bit of a comedian [there], and it’s really nice.”

And of course, there’s the much-awaited belly dancing scene, right?

“I loved the belly dancing scene! There was pressure noong umpisa, but [napadali] dahil sobrang saya at sobrang supportive ng lahat ng tao, sina Richard, lalo na. They were cheering for me—it was so nice, and yung support, ang sarap, so I liked that.” Heart recalls that she only got to know the moves a few hours before the take, but she learned them fast nonetheless. “Masakit sa stomach, yung abs ko sumakit, pero ok lang naman!”

She also spills that she had her shy moments with Richard especially during their kissing scenes: “I must say, doon ako medyo nahihirapan. Like noong isang araw, may scene kami, tapos ako dapat yung may line [after the kiss], [pero] nakalimutan ko yung line ko! So tumawa lahat ng tao!” She continues, “It’s not easy, ha! Tapos yung mga camera men, kumakanta, ‘We’re the king and queen of hearts…!’”

Heart must admit that Richard is her closest pal right now in the Kapuso Network. “I guess you could say Richard and Mon (Raymond Gutierrez) because I’ve been bonding with them a lot and also because we have common friends. When I saw them here in [GMA], sila [rin] yung unang-una kong nilapitan.”

Heart adds, “Sobrang bait ni Chard. He’s such a gentleman, so it’s a big [help], kasi may mga scenes kami together where he makes me feel really comfortable. [Ngayon] wala na yung hiya-hiya, pero minsan, nawawala ako sa lines ko kasi kinakabahan ako!”

She says that one of the factors that helped her get over the initial awkwardness was their bonding time. “Siguro importante yung nagbo-bonding, we talk about anything under the sun, we get to know each other, and because of that, nawawala na yung wall.” Of course, Chard also does “sweet nothings” for her. For instance, Heart reveals that he gives her Starbucks coffee or Krispy Kremes!

Happy where she is

There’s also been some talk about her doing a Koreanovela pretty soon. Perhaps after Codename: Asero?

“I don’t know which [Koreanovela], but nasa contract ko na I’ll be doing Koreanovelas which I like! Because I feel na mas babagay ako sa mga romantic comedies, at saka yung features ko [bagay] pa.” Heart is referring to her chinita features which she got from her dad’s side of the family.

Heart remarks, “I’m very good, I’m doing very well. Medyo pagod, pero ang sarap na pagod, kasi I do productive things, I’m very very happy na marami akong trabaho.”

Of course, rumors are inevitable, especially for someone as controversial and as in demand as Heart. This particular one started when Dennis Trillo slipped that he has a crush on Heart Evangelista in one of his show guestings. Naturally, the media hyped it up, and continued to fish for opinions from the two celebrities.

Heart was asked about what she thought of Dennis’s confession. “Thank you, ‘di ba? Kaya pala hindi niya ako pinapansin!” she jokes. “Akala ko naaartehan siya sa akin! Lumalapit naman ako, [pero] I think very shy siya, no?”

She also reveals that she’d love to work with Marian Rivera (whom she thinks is “hot”) and JC De Vera (who was her grade school classmate), aside from Dennis. But right now, she’s happy with how her career is going. “I just really wanna do what I love doing, it’s really not about anybody or anything—it’s about what I love to do. Ako, I’m up for anything.”

To sum up her GMA experience so far, she imparts, “This is the first time in a long time that I’ve felt I did something really good. Na tama yung naging desisyon ko. To all my fans that disappeared for a while and now they’re back, maraming maraming salamat sa inyo. Let’s enjoy life, let’s see how things work out, and please watch my upcoming shows—Codename: Asero, S.O.P., and a whole lot more. I’m so excited to show you what I’ve got now, and I’m also excited that you’re excited, so yes, we’ll see each other very soon!”

Richard Gutierrez’s baby is coming out soon. No, not that kind of baby! His can be shared by the whole country, and later on everyone subscribed to Pinoy TV. What baby are we talking about? It’s called ‘Codename: Asero.’ Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

“Up to now, it’s still surreal for me.” Richard Gutierrez reveals that he still can’t believe that Codename: Asero, the show he and numerous other people have been working on for more than two months now, is finally coming to fruition. “Nabubuo na ‘yung show and it makes [us] feel proud and happy na natupad na ‘yung mga gusto naming mangyari—and maganda ‘yung kinalabasan.

“I’m very proud of this show.”

A new role for Richard

“Ever since, pag may mga shows ako, sinasabi ko rin naman ‘yung opinions ko.” Richard says that he’s very hands on when it comes to his projects. But unlike before, with Codename: Asero he’s been with the project since its inception—“kumbaga, mas tinutukan ko this time.”

“I’m honored that Direk Mark [Reyes] and the production team welcomed me to be part of [them], to be active on the creative side.” The king of GMA-7’s primetime programming adds that he wants to thank them because of the opportunity he was given. “I’m learning the ropes, the basics from them.

“[And] now that we’re seeing the product of our hard work, it makes us feel happy—the whole team, not just me. Everyone should take credit, the whole team.”

Richard says he’s very happy with they managed to accomplish so far, “the shots we did in Dubai, all the action sequences, the treatment of Direk Mark—it’s what we discussed before.” The actor is all aglow that his first venture into the creative unknown is paying off—and really well too! “It all gelled and molded up, the look of the production —everything!”

Lately though, Richard admits, he doesn’t have as much time for the preproduction part of the show, “we discuss it on the set na because my schedule doesn’t permit.

“[So now] I discuss my inputs with Direk Mark and the producers on the set.”

From Dubai with Heart

“Dubai was amazing.” Richard calls the Asero experience in Dubai amazing—“but it was really hard work.

“It was fun filming in a different country, absorbing their culture, their lifestyles—and [just] being in a different environment. But the bottom line is we were there to work; and the work wasn’t easy, the work was hard.”

He says that the Dubai filming was fun, and they were all very happy with the results of their work—even in extremely hot weather. “Pag nakikita namin ‘yung shots, it inspires all of us. So it doesn’t matter kung mahirap ‘yung trabaho, enjoy kami sa ginagawa namin.”

And who wouldn’t enjoy working with Heart Evangelista, right? “It’s awesome working with her,” Richard agrees.

The actor expounds that other than being a great actress, Heart was also very professional. “And gusto ko ‘yung pakikisama niya sa mga tao, ‘yung pakikitungo niya, how she handles herself on set—I can say now that we have become really close friends.

“It’s such a good experience working with Heart.”

For the first time ay kumuha ng major male celebrity endorser ang Forever Flawless sa katauhan ni Richard Gutierrez. Ito rin daw ang unang pagkakataon na nag-endorse si Richard ng isang beauty clinic. Pero may nagtatanong kay Richard kung bakit Flawless at hindi Belo Clinic or Calayan Surgicenter ang ini-endorse niya.

"E, nandun na si Ate [Ruffa Gutierrez] sa Belo kaya ako, dito naman ako sa Forever Flawless. Sister company and this is like family. I'm being part of Flawless, para na rin akong nasa Belo," paliwanag ni Richard sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Inamin ni Richard na nagpupunta rin daw siya noon sa clinic ni Dr. Manny Calayan.

"This is actually my first endorsement for a beauy clinic. Before kay Dr. Calayan, it's because of my mom and my sister. But I'm not really part of Calayan," paglilinaw niya.

Hindi naman daw siya inalok ng Calayan para mag-endorse sa kanila.

"It's an honor for me to be part of Flawless family," diin ni Richard. "I can say now this is the product that is named after me, so I cannot say no to that."

Sabi ng iba, hindi na raw kailangan ni Richard ang isang beauty clinic dahil sa kanyang kaguwapuhan.

"Kailangan yun, e," sabi naman niya. "Hindi naman ako sobra sa pagka-vain. Ang sa akin lang, consistency by taking good care of your skin. I think I'm very blessed kung ano meron ako sa skin ko. Yung pagiging guwapo, it's a blessing and a curse," biro ni Richard.

"No," balik seryoso ni Richard. "Siyempre you have to balance yourself. Hindi kailangang siyempre laging guwapo. Mayroong gising na hindi rin ako guwapo. May off days din."

OFFICIALLY ON? Naitanong din kay Richard ang umuugong na balita na sila na officially ng kanyang katambal sa pelikulang For The First Time na si KC Concepcion. Totoo ba ito?

"Sinabi naman namin sa inyo na hindi kami nagmamadali. Huwag magamadali, relax lang," sabi ni Richard.

Madalas daw kasi silang makitang magka-holding hands kaya duda na mag-on na sila ni KC.

"Wala pa," tanggi niya. "Pareho lang kaming sweet sa isa't isa. We treasure each moment together. Yun nga, kami ni KC, doon lang kasi sa moment na laging magkasama kami kaya masaya. Masaya lang kami.

"Kami ni KC ngayon, we're taking things step by step. Kami ni KC , hinahayaan namin na mag-enjoy kami sa company ng isa't isa. Nagkakaalaman kami nang husto. So sa movie namin, there's a big possibility na magkakilala kami nang husto. Kaya we're just taking it slow. Let it flow."

Kapag magkasama sila ni KC, napapansin ng marami na mas showy ang dalaga sa kanyang feelings towards Richard.

"She's just very sweet," sabi naman ng young actor.

Bukod sa holding hands, kailan naman niya hina-hug si KC?

"Kapag kailangan niya ng hug," nakangiting sabi niya.

May kissing scene ba sila sa first movie nila together?

"Depende," sagot ni Richard. "I'm not sure yet. Kung meron, I think it's an important factor to our movie. Kinakabahan nga ako, e. Hindi pa kami dumarating sa point na yun kasi di pa napapag-usapan ‘yan.

KC'S DEBUT ALBUM. Sa debut album ni KC, nakasama ang favorite song ng ex-boyfriend niya na si Lino Cayetano, ang "Imagine."

"Ah, ganoon ba? Hindi ko alam yun," reaksiyon ni Richard.

Nagselos ba siya?

"Hindi, hindi ako seloso."

What about Richard, may favorite song din ba siya na nakasama sa album ni KC?

"Favorite ko sa album niya yung ‘Dobidoo.' Nung natapos niya ang album, una niyang ipinarinig sa akin. Nagustuhan ko yung ‘Dobidoo' niya."

RUFFA'S SUITOR. Ano naman ang masasabi niya sa manliligaw diumano ng kanyang Ate Ruffa?

"Talaga? That's good. I'm happy for her. She's doing well in her career. I'm happy for her. Sana lang makatagpo siya ng lalaking magmahal talaga sa kanya. Okey lang na mag-boyfriend si Ate, pero huwag siyang magmadali. Pero okey lang."

Nakilala ba niya ang manliligaw ng ate niya?

"Hindi ko pa siya nakikilala. Nakita ko pa lang siya. Mukhang giant, e," lahad ni Richard.

Napansin daw ni Richard yung sinasabing suitor ni Ruffa sa party ng ate niya.

"Pero hindi ko alam na poporma siya. But you cannot miss him dahil ang tangkad niya."

POKWANG'S SPOOF. Lastly, nagalit ag mommy ni Richard na si Annabelle Rama sa ginawa ni Pokwang na panggagaya sa kanila ng kambal niyang si Raymond Gutierrez sa show ng komedyana sa Music Museum. Ano ang masasabi ni Richard dito?

"Kasi hindi rin magre-react ang mommy ko kung walang nag-text sa kanya. Hindi ko rin alam yun, e. May nagsabi sa amin. Hindi namin siya [Pokwang] kilala. Hindi naman kailangang gumamit ng ibang artista para magpatawa. Siyempre, sino na ang may gusto na babuyin ka sa stage?" reaksiyon ni Richard.

Lingid sa kaalaman ni Richard, makakasama niya si Pokwang sa For The First Time bilang yaya ni KC.

"Ah, talaga? E, di may konting excitement sa set," nakangiting sabi ni Richard na tila may ibig ipakahulugan.

"She already asked an apology sa TV. Pero kung mag-a-ask ulit siya personally, huwag na sa TV-TV. Masakit lag kasi siyempre hindi na niya kailangang gawin yun. Huwag na lang niyang gawin ulit ‘yon," pagtatapos ni Richard.

“Kami ni KC, nandoon na kami sa moment na kapag magkasama kami, masayang-masaya kami. Masyado na kaming magkakilala.

“Magkakilala at magkaibigan ang mga family namin. We have a common bonding, kaya okey ang samahan namin,” sabi ni Richard.

May nagsabi na doble ang effort ni Richard na magpaguwapo ngayon para kay KC?

“Ahmm.. Hindi naman!

“Okey naman kami ni KC kapag magkasama. Hindi naman ako `yung laging nakaporma kapag kasama ko siya.

“Depende sa okasyon. Minsan nga ‘pag tatambay lang kami, naka-jeans lang ako. Mas maganda ngang ipakita ko agad ‘yung ibang side ko sa kanya.”

Ano ang masasabi ni Richard sa reaksiyon ng mommy niyang si Annabelle, na dapat ay huwag na huwag niyang sasaktan si KC?

“Yes, nagpayo siya sa akin. Siyempre, papakinggan ko ‘yung mga sinasabi nila. Pero ang importante sa akin ay ‘yung sa aming dalawa ni KC, kung ano ‘yung nararamdaman ko at nararamdaman niya.

“Siyempre, hindi ako magpapa-apekto kung ano ang sabihin nila. Ang importante kung ano ang nararamdaman namin ni KC.

“Naiintindihan ko naman ‘yung point nila na gusto nilang ingatan ko si KC, dahil friends ang family namin. Wala silang dapat alalahanin, kasi maingat naman ako. Iniingatan ko naman si KC,” makabuluhang sambit ni Richard.

Siyanga pala, hindi pa sigurado si Richard kung makakasama pa si Pokwang sa pelikula nila ni KC. Pero, nakarating na kay Richard ang ginawang pangi-spoof ni Pokwang sa kakambal niyang si Raymond Gutierrez.

Aminado si Richard, masakit para sa kanya ang ginawa ni Pokwang kay Raymond.

“Masakit isipin na kailangan pa niyang gawin ‘yun. Sana lang huwag na niyang ulitin,” say na lang ni Richard.

Alam na rin ni Richard na nag-sorry si Pokwang sa TV sa pamilya niya.

Pero, gusto pa rin daw niyang makausap si Pokwang ng personal.

Finally, nagtagpo na sa set ng kanilang first ever movie together sina KC Concepcion at Richard Gutierrez. Nagkaeksena na rin sila for their Star Cinema movie na For The First Time.

Sa unang araw ng kanilang shooting, masayang-masaya sina KC at Richard na magkasama sa set.

"It's fun, it's good! It's our first scene together. Kasi nagsu-shoot na ako for the last four days. Ang saya na may kaeksena na ako. I'm really happy na finally, we're doing scenes together na," sey ni KC sa The Buzz.

"Matagal-tagal ko nang hinintay itong first day ko. First scene ko with KC at Direk Joyce [Bernal]. It's fun, kasi lahat bago sa kanya [KC]. We just want her to have fun," sabi naman ni Richard.

UNUSUAL SWEETNESS. Sa kanilang mga kilos-ang kakaibang sweetness at pagiging sobrang close sa isa't isa-mahihinuha ng sinumang makakakita na may espesyal nang namamagitan sa kanilang dalawa. Mag-on na nga ba sina KC at Richard?

"Friends, friends kami! Wala, wala! Next time na lang yun! ‘Pag mas marami na kaming nagagawa for the movie. First day pa lang. Ha-ha-ha!" natatawang biro pa ni KC.

"First day pa lang natin, ‘di ba? Marami pang mangyayari, ‘di ba? Enjoy kami ‘pag magkasama kami. Tingnan natin kung ano'ng mangyayari along the way," makahulugan namang sabi ni Richard.

GOING TO GREECE. Sa July 14 pala nakatakdang umalis sina KC at Richard for Greece kung saan kukunan ang iba nilang mga eksena para sa kanilang first movie.

"Excited kami kasi parehong first time namin na pupunta sa Greece," sabi ni KC.

Kung excited ang dalawa sa kanilang pagsasama, ngayon pa lang, marami na sa kanilang fans ang excited na ring naghihintay na mapanood ang kanilang first team up.

Richard becomes the first male endorser of Flawless as the company introduced its male line of beauty products from soap to toner and even day and night cream.

Ang male line ng Flawless is under the initials RG or Real Gentleman kung ka-ya’t very apt ang slogan ni-tong only Real Gentlemen wears pink; pink being the color associated with Flawless.

Ngayon, curious kami kung ano ang nauna, tawaging RG ang men’s line ng Flawless or get Richard as its endorser.

Richard’s acronym kasi is also RG.

Coincidence lang daw ito dahil they have Richard in mind na raw para alukan ng endorsement noong pi-nu-formulate pa nila ang men’s line na tatawagin nilang RG.

Siyempre honored si Richard dahil siya ang first male endorser nito.

THE first shooting day of “For the First Time,” the first movie teamup of Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion, finally took place last Saturday, directed by Joyce Bernal for Star Cinema. The first scene they shot was taken in a bar on Bonifacio High Street at the Fort. ABS-CBN Star Magic talent Denise Laurel was with them. From there, they shot the next scene in a bookstore. Both Richard and KC were in high spirits as they really look forward to working with each other.

“Gusto ko talagang makapareha si KC sa pelikula,” says Richard, who’s also now the top endorser of Flawless Face Body Medical. “Matagal ko nang pinangarap na makatrabaho siya and I expected her to be so much fun to be with. I’m happy to say that all my expectations about her were met.”

So is he planning to formally woo KC now? “No, not yet. HIndi minamadali ‘yan. Siyempre, kailangang paghandaan ko munang mabuti. At this point, we’re just happy to be working together. We’re still getting to know each other better, which is the first stage towards any good relationship, di ba?”

On the set of their movie, Richard and KC look so good together and they’re also sweet to each other it’s obvious that they really have positive feelings for one another.

As Flawless image model, Richard is billed as the Real Gentleman in Pink for their Real Gentleman Collection of skin products and services. “I’m happy to be their endorser,” he says. “Flawless has a good campaign with this Real Gentleman pitch and I’m honored by the trust they give me.”

KAHIT ngayong may ginagawa na silang movie together, For the First Time, for Star Cinema, wala pa raw balak si Richard Gutierrez na ligawan seriously si KC Concepcion.

Mismong si Ruffa Gutierrez, only and elder sister ni Richard, ang nagbalita nito sa recent launch niya as a Belo Medical Group endorser.

“He (Richard) wants to court KC at the right time,” susog pa ni Ruffa. “’Yung tipong prepared na siya for whatever. Richard is that serious sa kung anumang feeling meron siya kay KC ngayon.”

Halos magka-edad sina Richard at KC, who turned 23 last April 7.

Richard and KC are scheduled to leave for Athens, Greece, first week ng July. Some of their scenes in For the First Time will be shot there.

Aalis si Direk Joyce Bernal anytime now for the so-called location hunting.

Direk Joyce purposely requested the management of GMA-7 to allow her na pumalya muna sa pagdidirek ng Dyesebel para matapos niya ang Richard-KC film, which has an August playdate.

Direk Joyce also handled Marimar, the teleserye that made Marian Rivera the star that she is now.

Usap-usapan sa launching ni Ruffa Gutierrez bilang endorser ng Belo Medical Group noong Wednesday, June 18, na napakalaki ng talent fee na ibinayad sa kanya ni Dr. Vicki Belo para iwanan ang dati niyang ini-endorse na beauty clinic.

In fact, mismong ang ina at manager ni Ruffa na si Annabelle Rama ang nagsabi sa presscon na inaalok pa ng P10 million deal si Ruffa ng dati niyang beauty clinic. Pero iba rito ang Belo Medical Group, pahiwatig ni Dr. Belo:

"Belo never really buys endorsers. As you can see, most of these people are really our patients. We don't go around, you know, paying people to become our endorsers. So, usually, she comes to our clinic first and then we approach them and say, ‘Baka you want to become an endorser and make it official already?'"

Anong particular treatment or product sa Belo Medical Group ang ini-endorse ni Ruffa?

"Si Claudine [Barretto], smart lipo. Katrina [Halili] is agua lipo. Actually for Ruffa, she's going to be a bit different because she's more of a corporate endorser. More like the person who...she is not after this for the service thing. But you know, for us she fits the total package of a Belo beauty and she will have a very big campaign.

"You will see nakakagulat na billboard sa EDSA. Ang problem lang siguro, medyo marami lang ang endorsers namin so, mahina ang campaign for each person.

"But we're going to launch after Ruffa, another endorser in about a month for the non-surgical [services]. We have a new Belo shaper using ultrasonic energy to melt fat. Very effective to those who are afraid of having liposuction. Non-surgical po ito. Ruffa muna for one month and then we'll launch the next star.

"My purpose in life, as you can see, is not only for Belo, but for the Philippines to be recognized around the world as an important player in the beauty industry. That's why, you know, we buy the best machine, I go abroad and give papers, I give talks. Para malaman naman ng buong mundo na hindi naman tayo 'third world' pagdating po sa pagpapaganda. And I'm so happy because the Belo Essentials products have become a big hit not only locally, but I know in the Middle East it's popular. That's why my CEO po, si Mr. Eric Soriano, the reason why he's on board is because he will be the one to bring Belo Medical Group and Belo Medical Products global."

Si Ruffa raw ang endorser ng buong Belo Medical Group.

"Actually, si Ruffa hindi nagpapa-surgery yan. Gusto niya non-surgical. E, marami na kami ngayong machine na non-surgical skin tightening. But she is in the right weight and everything. Kaya lang merong stretch marks ng konti, tini-treat.

"Then, of course she's in her 30's. Her idea kasi is smart. I-maintain niya what I look like now. Para hindi may malaking procedure in the future. Nasa clinic siya every week. Kung ano lang ang ginagawa? Small things."

Napansin lang ng iba na naging kahawig na ni Ruffa ang isa pa nilang celebrity endorser na si Sarah Geronimo sa poster niya with Belo.

"Talaga? Same photographer ba?" tanong ni Dr. Vicki sa kanyang staff.

Dahil si Ruffa ang endorser ng buong Belo Medical Group, mas mataas kaya ang talent fee niya kaysa kay Sarah?

"Hindi. Hindi definitely yun.Talagang ano, wala... No comment na lang about TF. But I promise you it's not big."

Next week ang kapatid naman ni Ruffa na si Richard Gutierrez ang susunod na ila-launch bilang endorser ng Forever Flawless na pag-aari rin ni Dr. Belo.

Samantala, kinumpirma rin ni Dr. Belo na ang international star na si Billy Crawford ang most recent endorser na pumirma sa kanila ng kontrata.

"We're going global and Billy is an international star. You know, when I was in Paris about two years ago, I was so impressed kasi in a Virgin Records Studio bar, pagpasok ninyo po, lahat-lahat talaga ng picture, puro Billy Crawford and kilalang-kilala siya sa Europe.

"I think Billy is trying to make it in the States, so as part of the global thrust of Belo, because we're planning to put up branches in the U.S. and Middle East...so, I think Billy Crawford is perfect as an endorser also, kasama si Ruffa," pagtatapos ni Dr. Belo.

Nabuking sa presscon-launching ni Ruffa Gutierrez na ang kapatid na si Richard Gutierrez ang ilo-launch na endorser ng Forever Flawless next week.

Nasulat na namin na obvious sa clue sa billboard kung sino ang tinutukoy na “Only Real Good Man Can Wear Pink,” dahil highlighted ang “R” at “G” letters.

Tamang-tama kung next week ang launching kay Richard, dahil first week ng July naman daw ang premiere ng kanyang Codename: Asero.

Richard Gutierrez: “With my dad kasi, I cherish every moment that I have with him. Kasi the aura that he brings, the vibe that he brings is so positive, and every time that he tells me a story from the past, or how he guides me—he always guides me in my work, and in my personal life, but he doesn’t give unsolicited advice. You’re the one who has to speak to him, and that’s the only time that he will share his experiences. And when he does share his experiences, I consider that something great already coming from him. Because he’s been through a lot in his life, and I think he’s a man of wisdom. So I cherish every small moments with him, nothing really big and grand. Pero ‘yung mga simple conversations with him, I cherish the most.”

Jean Garcia: “I never knew my [biological] father. My mother and my father separated when I was five [years old]. Tapos my father died na in 1997, so hindi ko siya [nakilala]. Stepfather [ko naman], malambing. Basta parang barkada—we’re very close. I’m 38, he’s only mga 58, [so] 20 years lang agwat namin.”

Bb. Joyce Bernal: “Matagal kasi silang nasa U.S., so noong pumunta ako [doon], yun yung time na nag-bond kami ng tatay ko. Siya yung nagda-drive for me, siya nakakasama ko sa shopping! Saka mas naintindihan ko yung buhay nila doon. Sabi ko, dapat pala hindi na kami humihingi ng pera. Kasi kahit na noong nagdi-direct na ako, alam mo naman mga magulang, [ang] konsepto nila, [dependent ka pa rin]. So pinapadalhan pa rin nila ako ng damit, pera, sapatos, underwear—lahat! Pati na sa bahay, yung mga basic [things], kung pwede nila ipadala, ipapadala nila.”

Dingdong Dantes: “I remember this incident before when I was four, five years old. Very clear sa memory ko. It was raining so hard, and we were looking for a way to get to the movie house to watch Rambo. E talagang malayo yung parking sa entrance. We had to run, we got soaked dahil sa lakas ng ulan!”

Rhian Ramos: “My dad is such a geek when it comes to Harley Davidson. He’s a real Harley and Porsche fan. Before, my dad would probably change his bike like every year, and every Sunday he would take me out, drive me around, as in super pointless—as in wala naman kaming pinupuntahan! He just drives me around, in the bike, and I’m always screaming, ‘Faster! Faster!’ He’d give me the helmet, being the sweet guy that he is—of course, malamang, I’m his daughter! Anyways, we just go to Starbucks. We always order the same thing—we split a cinnamon roll down the middle, [and] he always ends up eating half of my piece! And then we just go home. We did that every Sunday for absolutely no reason.”

Chynna Ortaleza: “Every time we get to bond over our midnight snack. Kasi it’s like a thing we have at home—ever since I was a kid, I used to serve him midnight snacks, and then we get to talk there. And every time he shares a book with me, ‘cos my dad is a wide reader, and he taught me how to appreciate books, so that’s how we bond. He gives me a lot of books, and that’s his way of reaching out to me when he thinks that I have a problem, or if I tell them I’m undergoing stress, or this is my problem at the moment. He gives me a lot of really nice books to help me.”

Kris Bernal: “Hindi kasi kami close ng dad ko, kasi hindi kami masyadong nagkakasama. Pero ang pinaka-gusto kong ginawa niya, siya kasi ‘yung nag-libre ng trip ko sa States. Lahat ng napuntahan namin, dahil sa kanya. Hindi [rin] kami as a family sa States e, dalawa lang talaga kaming mag-ama. ‘Yung daddy ko, siya ‘yung gumastos lahat. E ‘di ba malaking gastos rin ‘yun? Na-touch ako kasi pinag-ipunan niya talaga.”

Bryan Termulo: “Hindi ko alam kung ilang years na ‘yun, pero kasi si Papa nagwo-work siya kahit Sunday. Kami namang magkakapatid, habang [nasa work] siya, inaayos namin ‘yung bahay. Tapos pagdating niya, may mini-party lang. Tapos hindi niya in-expect. Na-surprise namin talaga siya that time! Gumawa pa yata kami ng computerized na ‘Happy Father’s Day’ na banner. Parang kiddie party ang nangyari—pero para sa dad [namin].”

Chariz Solomon: “Sus ko, ang tagal na noon. Last na kita namin, ang tagal na. Pero kami ng daddy ko, sobrang sweet kami. Daddy’s girl talaga ako e. Pag nami-miss ko siya, nasa office siya, kinakantahan ko siya: ‘O daddy ko, miss na miss kita’. Tapos kapag may bagong labas na Barbie, lagi niya akong binibilhan. Lagi niya akong kinakarga, tsaka mahilig kaming magpicture-picture. Spoiled ako sa tatay ko. ‘Yung daddy ko kasi, majarlika siya. (Laughs.) Kami lang ‘yung mahirap. Mabait siyang tao. Medyo mahigpit lang kasi isa siyang militar.”

Jan Nieto: “Para sa akin kasi, as I grow older, ngayon ako mas napapalapit sa parents ko. Medyo baligtad. Anyway, kasi ‘yung dad ko naman is not the sentimental kind of person. Para sa akin, ‘yung pinaka-memorable moment ko with him was when we were on a campaign before. Parang two months, kasama ko siya halos everyday. Hindi pa ako singer noon, pero pinapakanta na niya ako. Para makatulong na rin sa kanya. And we had that special song, ‘yung favorite song niya na kinakanta ko was ‘Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka’. And it turned out when I joined a singing contest, ‘yun ‘yung una kong ni-record na single. Because of him. Because ang alam ko, ‘yung song na ‘yun is one of his favorites.”

Bubbles Paraiso: “A lot! It’s actually what I did for them rather than what they did for me. All my life, my dad was the one who provided everything for me, so after years of modeling, for their anniversary, for my parents, I gave them a trip to Hongkong. And they were really happy, ‘coz my dad, he’s the type na ayaw niya yung luho for himself. He’s gonna give us what we want, but for himself, ayaw niya, so he never had the luxury of traveling or whatever. E kami ni kuya noon, ‘We’re going to Malaysia, etc.’ Yung ganoon? That’s why I gave them an out of the country trip and he really loved it, and he really enjoyed it, ang tagal niyang kinukwento like the fireworks and everything, so it’s really touching.”

Who would have thought that two exclusive stars of rival film outfits would join forces for not one, but two big movies? You simply have to give it to GMA Films and Star Cinema for making their “wild idea” come true! Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Vic Eyatid.

It’s official!

Last May 22, iGMA got word that KC Concepcion was in the house. But why would an ABS-CBN contract star be in GMA?

Turns out it’s official: she was here to sign her GMA Films contract for a Valentine’s Day movie with primetime King Richard Gutierrez! For the opening speech of the contract signing, GMA Films president Ms. Annette Gozon-Abrogar announced to the Press that the movie will be written and directed by Joey Reyes. She adds, “Welcome KC, we’re very happy that you gave us an opportunity to work with you. And syempre si Richard is our Valentine King! So this time iba naman yung queen niya—si KC!”

Richard and KC did look like a king and queen in their matching blue formal outfits during the event held at the Network’s 16th floor conference room. “Its such a memorable and unforgettable experience because KC is joining us here in GMA,” Richard starts off. “Ako yung nauna sa ABS noong isang araw at ngayon naman siya yung nandito sa GMA. Noong isang araw ako yung kinakabahan, tapos sabi niya ngayon, siya naman ang kinakabahan! So thank you for this moment, thank you for giving us this chance and this opportunity to work together. It’s a wild idea, [but] we made it happen. And of course KC, thank you. I’m super excited for this movie.”

The well-spoken pair was a delight to watch, especially since one couldn’t quite shoot down the possibility of a budding romance between them. They were, after all, very sweet and familiar with each other.

When it was KC’s turn to speak, she also thanked everyone who made the project possible. “I’m really happy that ABS-CBN lent me to GMA. I wouldn’t have had the guts to go and take the last step and the last push, to you know, make this project more possible [if it weren’t for all of you].”

Of course, Richard got a special mention from the mestiza beauty: “Thanks, Chard, for giving me your support and encouragement and convincing me that you were the right leading man! I don’t know if that was hard or not so hard to do, but anyway, we’re here and thank you for making things happen also. I [also] need to thank my mother station ABS for hearing us out, because it was teamwork. It was really a dance. I’m happy that the two members have come together somehow to make things happen.”

The contract

Ms. Annette explains the deal that GMA Films has worked out with Star Cinema, where KC is a contract star.

“What we wanted in the first place was a co-production to make it a really big event, parang ‘Ooh, two film outfits of different Networks joined together to have one big team.’ Kaya lang, hindi natuloy yun, but because of Richard and KC, they really wanted to have this movie, and because of the clamor for their team-up, then nakiusap lahat ng taong involved, and of course, hinihintay talaga ng buong Philippines na magkaroon sila ng movie.”

“We decided to just have two movies, kasi yun yung suggestion nila. The first movie is under Star Cinema, then the second movie will be under GMA Films. Syempre, along the way, nagkaroon ng mga negotiations on kung ano yung terms sa mga waiver, since Richgard and KC are exclusive film stars of GMA Films and Star Cinema. Syempre, in all contracts, may negotiations. Nagkaroon ng kaunting glitches, but as you see, we signed [already], we have the waiver from Star Cinema, so all’s well that ends well.”

The first movie under Star Cinema will be released in August 2008, allegedly under the direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal. The second film, which will be directed by Joey Reyes, is set to air on February 11 as a Velentine’s Day offering. It will be co-produced with Regal Entertainment, like Richard’s past four Valentine flicks (Let The Love Begin, I Will Always Love You, The Promise, and My Bestfriend's Girlfriend).

A few words from direk

“I feel so old because I saw these two actors really grow up literally in front of my eyes,” direk Joey fondly recalls. “And I feel so young because I’m going to do what I love doing best—a love story which is so light for me, celebrating not only youth, but life and the world itself.”

“I chose to work in GMA Films because GMA was the first to offer me this project last year. And I respect my word, so I’m here in GMA, so happy and so proud to be working not only with everybody here in GMA, but most especially because I am going to be working with two young people who are very close to my heart now, KC and Richard.”

The movie will be tentatively called When I Met You, the title of the APO Hiking Society hit which will also be its theme song.

When asked how romantic the movie will be, direk Joey exclaimed, “Ay sobra!”

“My God, we have two of the most beautiful young people in the country today and you’re going to take them to various beautiful venues!” he adds. “Talagang manigas ka sa romance! Tapos Valentine’s pa! Let’s put it this way, it is very dangerous to those with diabetes!”

How will he treat the romantic scenes?

“It is not going to be one of those hampasan ng lobo at sundutan ng bulaklak movies,” he answers, mocking the stereotypical scenes of teenybopper flicks. “It’s going to be very, very real, very contemporary, but something very appropriate to people of their age.”

Here’s a spoiler: rumor has it that this will be the first time that Richard will sing onscreen!

Working with each other

How are KC and Richard getting along so far?

KC shares, “Si Chard kasi, komportable ako sa kanya—our families know each other and we’re good friends, and we’re very close [in terms of our] age. He’s only a year older than me, and [among] all the leading men that we were thinking of, I guess Chard and I made the youngest pair. Not only is he young, but at our age, he’s done so much—so much more than I have. I have respect for him as an actor, and as somebody who’s been in the industry longer than I have. So in that sense, we’re a young, fun, team, and yet, he has the heart of someone who’s been here a long, long time. So I’m very excited.”

A member of the press asked KC if she’s willing to do a TV series with Richard on GMA--Captain Barbell Meets Darna, to be exact.

“Well, it’s a big part of Pinoy pop culture, so who wouldn’t want to be part of that history?” she replies with a big smile. Then she looks at Richard and says, “Kung okay lang kay Chard, e!”

Ever the dashing leading man that he is, Richard replies, “It would be a dream come true.”

Bago ang look ng young actress na si Chynna Ortaleza nang makita siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last June 3. Very short ang hair nito, pero halos lahat naman ng nakakita kay Chynna ay nagsasabing bumagay sa kanya ang bago niyang look.

"Ano kasi, in preparation nga sa bago kong role for Codename: Asero. Wala lang. Di ba, alam n'yo naman ako, pati pagta-tackle ko ng role, maging physical looks inaaral ko? Yung sa akin, para naman siyempre hindi magsawa ang mga tao," paliwanag ni Chynna.

Supposedly ay kahapon, June 4, raw sana ang first taping day niya for Asero. Pero na-postpone ito dahil sa may revision pa sa script. Pero aniya, kahit paano raw ay may idea na siya sa magiging role niya.

"Ang description kasi nila sa role ko, kontrabida ni Heart Evangelista at ex-girlfriend ni Richard [Gutierrez], and my character name is Fran," saad niya.

Hindi pa raw sila talaga magkakilala ni Heart on a personal level. At the same time, first time daw niya na makakatrabaho ang dating Kapamilya star kaya hindi pa niya masabi what to expect.

"I don't know pa nga, e," sabi ni Chynna. "I don't know pa what to expect. I haven't really met Heart. We see each other, pero siyempre, in passing lang. Alam mo yung usual na hindi mo pa masyadong kilala? So siyempre, hindi mo pa masyadong gamay. So, hindi ko pa alam kung may instant chemistry kaya.

"A lot of people naman have been saying she's nice and pleasant to work with. E, di good. At least, magiging palagay naman ako with the working relationship."

CHARACTER ROLES. Puwedeng sabihin talaga na nalinya na siya sa mga character roles. Halos lahat kasi ng mga primetime series na ginawa niya ay masasabing kontrabida or bida-kontrabida siya—from Sugo to Atlantika to La Vendetta. At ngayon nga, itong Codename: Asero.

"Actually, hindi nga ako super black except for Atlantika. Yung iba, gray ang character ko."

So, okey lang sa kanya na sa ganito siya nalilinya?

"Oo!" mabilis niyang sagot. "Ewan ko nga ba kung bakit. Actually, sinabi ko talaga ‘yan sa Artist Center, lalo na noong puro pa-tweetums ang mga naibibigay sa aking character, sinabi ko talaga na ayoko na. Para kasi sa akin, mas masarap gampanan ang mga character roles, mas masarap paglaruan at mas challenging."

FROM LEADING LADY TO VILLAIN. Bago siya nagkaroon ng mga character roles, maaalala nating naging leaeding lady si Chynna ni Richard Gutierrez sa Click at ilang pelikula.

Sa muling pagsasama nila ni Richard, okay lang ba kay Chynna na kontrabida siya sa leading lady nito na si Heart?

Sa puntong ito, maagap kaming kinontra ni Chynna at sinabing hindi ito dapat nila-lang-lang. Aniya, "Hindi mo maila-lang ang kontrabida. Para sa akin, ang kontrabida ay halos kasing bigat din ng bida."

Katuwiran pa niya, "Of course, ang bida, nandoon ang simpatiya ng manonood. Mahal siya ng masa, siyempre underdog, e. Pero ang kuwento, hindi uusad kung walang masama, di ba?"

Aminado si Chynna na compared sa ibang mga batang artista, iba siya kung mag-isip.

"Iba talaga, e. Before, nang pinag-audition nila ko for Darna, tinanong ako kung gusto ko raw bang maging Darna. Ang sabi ko, ayoko. Ang gusto ko, maging si Valentina. Well, maybe because ang personality ko ay strong talaga. Hindi naman masama ang ugali ko, pero yun nga, I just find challenge sa mga ganoong klase ng character," lahad niya.

Wala ba siyang nararamdamang panghihinayang na maagang nagwakas ang love team nila ni Richard, na ngayon ay itinuturing na top male star ng Kapuso network? Aniya, mas okay raw sa kanya na hindi na.

"Kumbaga, kami ni Chard kasi, we already showed people yung love team namin before. We have moved on na. And I have to grow rin naman. Feeling ko, ang dami na rin naman niyang naging leading lady, so bakit pa ko makikisiksik? Kung puwede nga lang bigyan ako ng project na ako ang kontrabida ni Chard, it's unexpected. It's something different."

Sa kanya, trabaho lang daw ang lahat.

"Hindi ako magko-complain sa trabaho. Ang hirap-hirap kayang kumita ng pera. Ang dami naming artista. Yung iba, waiting for a long time na magkaroon ng work. ‘Tapos ako, aayawan ko pa ba ang grasya? Parang ang pangit naman yata no'n?" natatawa niyang sabi.

"At saka, ngayon kasi, mas inspired akong mag-work kasi may pamangkin ako na sa amin na nakatira at nag-aaral. So yung work ko ngayon for Asero, it will definitely help my niece kaya naman very thankful akong talaga," pagwawakas niya.

Sporting a new look ang young actress na si Chynna Ortaleza nang makapanayam siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa opening ng POP! Nostalgia photo exhibit sa Crucible Gallery ng SM Megamall last June 3.

Bumagay kay Chynna ang short hair niya, na babagay daw sa kontrabida role niya sa bagong teleserye ng GMA-7, ang Codename: Asero na pinagbibidahan ni Richard Gutierrez.

Ito raw ang pagkakataon na makatrabaho ulit ni Chynna si Richard after ng huling pinagsamahan nila na Sugo. Pero this time ay hindi na siya isa sa mga leading ladies kundi, isa siya sa mga magiging kalaban ni Richard sa naturang serye.

Wala naman daw problema si Chynna sa ibinigay na role sa kanya ng Asero. Natuwa pa nga siya dahil binigyan siya ng isang complex na character na puwede niyang laru-laruin once na magsimula sila mag-taping.

"When they told me na isang villainess role ang gagampanan ko sa Codename: Asero, I said okay lang. At least, naiiba naman. This is only my second time na gumanap na kontrabida. The first time was in Atlantika.

"Marami na kasing leading ladies si Chard sa story, e. Tatlo [Heart Evangelista, Rhian Ramos, and Ehra Madrigal] na yata sila ka-partner niya. Hindi na ako makikihati pa, di ba?" sabay tawa ni Chynna.

"That's why I got this new look para maiba naman ang hitsura ko sa mga babae sa show. Halos lahat sila kasi mahahaba ang mga buhok. As a kontrabida, gusto ko naman na may iba akong look para kahit papa'no ay mag-standout naman ako sa mga magiging scenes ko."

FIRST PARTNER. Si Chynna ang unang naka-love team ni Richard nang magbalik ito as a teen actor. Sa youth-oriented series na Click sumikat ang tambalang Richard-Chynna at nakagawa pa sila ng ilang movies together gaya ng Bakit Papa?, Mano Po 2, at Kuya. Nagbida pa ang team-up nila sa second season ng Love To Love at napasama pa sila sa soap drama na Habang Kapiling Ka.

Nang magbida si Richard sa mga telefantasya na Mulawin, Sugo, Captain Barbell, Lupin, at Kamandag ay sa iba't ibang young actresses na siya nai-partner tulad nila Angel Locsin, Rhian Ramos, Camille Prats, Isabel Oli, Katrina Halili, Ehra Madrigal, Jewel Mische, at Maxene Magalona.
