Two weeks before the much anticipated ending of Carlo J. Caparas’ Kamandag, Richard Gutierrez gave a press briefing discussing the plans and surprises that are in store for the epic’s big finale. Everybody was excited and quite interested on what the Primetime King has to say.
Richard Gutierrez was in the headlines many times the past few weeks. Rumors that he would be leaving the Kapuso network reached the press but were quickly squashed by the Gutierrez clan. Even his resignation from the variety show SOP was given a different color by the press.
Though the press briefing was about Kamandag’s ending, Richard answered all the issues and reports about him and managed to pique the curiosity of all those who attended the cozy gathering at the Shangri-la Hotel to the much awaited conclusion of Kamandag’s saga.
Kamandag’s reign
Richard has been hailed as the Primetime King with the continued success of all his shows. On Kamandag, he has once again proven that he still holds the crown and reigns over the primetime Telebabad block.
With the impending end of Kamandag, Richard promised the press that the show’s finale is something to look out for.
“Maganda 'yung ending namin. Lahat nandoon, action, drama, love story, suspense and rock and roll (laughs.) We made sure na talagang maganda 'yung ending. Maraming revisions ang nangyari dahil pinagaganda,” was Richard’s description of what was to transpire in the show’s finale.
He even cited that the stunts that he did for the show will prove how different and how exciting the experience will be when we watch Kamandag’s remaining episodes.
“Kahapon five hours 'yung ginawa naming stunts, medyo mahirap. Isa talaga ako sa mga nag-choreograph at tinutukan ko talaga 'yung stunts at saka ang daming aksidente. Na-taga ako ni Rocky dito (left hand) tapos sumabit ako sa harness, kasi 'yung ginagawa kong isang stunt sa harness, ‘yun 'yung natutunan ko sa mga Hongkong stunt men na inexecute namin kahapon na matagal ko ng hindi ginagawa. Pero nagawa ko naman ng tama,” shares the Kamandag’s main man rather proudly.
Kamandag’s end
Richard did not discuss in detail what will happen in the end nor who Vergel (Richard’s mortal character) will choose to love. He kept his lips tightly closed but smiled his charming grin when the media asked him about his leading ladies.
Instead, he focused on the preparations that he and the production crew of Kamandag are doing in order to give the viewers an adventure that they will not forget.
According to the Production Unit Manager of Kamandag, Ms. Redgie Magno “Si Richard sobrang hands-on siya, katulad kanina, brainstorming with the creative team and the writers, na siya ang nagtawag. Sobra siyang hands-on ngayon. Ako nakikita ko, nagma-mature na siya as an actor unlike before na parang nagte-taping lang, aalamin 'yung role ganyan, pero siya, sa start pa lang sobra na siyang hands-on, hindi lang 'yung role nya ang tinitingnan niya 'yung buong takbo ng show.”
